Teams
Teams are how we get things done at Stoney Creek United. Made up of
dedicated volunteers, our teams are divided into three broad categories:
Ministry to Ourselves,
which involves the work of strengthening the congregation and
supporting our spiritual growth is performed by the following teams:

Christian Development
Team Leader - Pat Cudmore
The role of the CD team is to plan and direct the
the overall Christian education programme for all age groups within the congregation. They recruit leaders for Youth Time,
maintain and operate the church resource centres, promote youth programmes, operate the nursery, promote adult education and work with the worship
committee to plan and co-ordinate special events.

Worship
Team Leader - Blaine stafford
Baptism coordintor - Cathy Craig
The Worship Team has oversight of the Sanctuary and the Memorial Chapel, including sound, music, decorations,
and of all services of worship which take place in the church. They assist in the preparation of Sunday worship and special
worship services, co-ordinate baptisms and organize the communion services. They also work with Ministry and
Personnel to arrange replacement ministry to cover any absences at services, weddings and funerals.
Ministry to Others,
involves the work of teams that are focused on reaching out to our
members, adherents, the community and the world. This is made up
of the following teams:

Communications
Team Leader - Murray Cook
Webmaster - Murray Cook
The Communications Team is responsible for the dissemination of news and information within the
congregation and from the congregation to the community. Specifically:
Produce and distribute the church newsletter.
Oversee the church bulletin boards.
Act as a resource for advertising and public relations, in all forms of media.
Produce the Annual Programme Report.

Outreach
Team Leader - Sue Gilbert
The Outreach and Social Action Team is responsible for motivating knowledge and conviction concerning the mission of the
United Church of Canada and to promote the Mission and Service Fund. Specifically:
Ensure our Mission statement is understood and integral to our activities as a church.
Identify and recommend strategies for moral and social issues in the community.
Cooperate with social agencies to meet the needs of the community.
Develop plans for reaching potential members.
Encourage and support ecumenical and interfaith outreach in the community.

Pastoral Care
Team Leader - Sue McCarthy
The Pastoral Care Team is responsible for the pastoral needs of the congregation and is made up of several sub teams. Specifically:
Visiting - Volunteers trained and commissioned to provide pastoral visitation to support the sick, shut-in, hospitalized
and others with special needs.
Communion - Off site communion may be held in alternative locations throughout the year. After communion services in the church
volunteers deliver communion to shut-ins and individuals in nursing homes.
Teleministry - Volunteers contact the members of the congregation throughout the year. Special emphasis is given to new families and
to inactive members.
Seniors - Develop and organize events aimed at keeping active contact with our senior congregational members.
Supporting Ministries,
which involves the work of those teams which provide and maintain the
resources that enable us to perform our mission.

Building and Grounds
Team Leader - John Pissey
The Building and Grounds team is responsible for maintenance and renewal of the church building and all church properties.

Stewardship
Co Team Leaders - Norm McCarthy, Audrey Macdonald
The Stewardship team is responsible for:
Educating and nurturing the congregation in all aspects of the Christian stewardship of time, talent and money.
Promoting environmental issues.
Promoting volunteer recognition.

Building Use

Ministry and Personnel
Co team Leaders - Janice Garden, Wayne Johnson
The Ministry and Personnel Team is responsible for:
Overseeing and providing human resource support to all church staff.
Ensuring employment standards comply with various government directives and with the Manual of the United Church of Canada.
Act as intermediary in disputes between staff members, between individual members and between individuals and staff.
